Every list starts with 80–120 candidates, not 50 — the obvious names and the ones everybody else misses.
Each candidate is scored across multiple independent sources. No single list, rating site, or algorithm decides.
Every entry is checked before it posts: real, currently open, and actually where we say it is. No exceptions.
Find a factual error — not a placement you hate, an actual error — and we fix it publicly and log the correction.
Nothing gets ranked until it is confirmed real and currently operating in an official registry or directory — schools in NCES / state education data, colleges in accreditor directories, businesses via Google Places status, places by Census geography.

We never scrape review sites and never republish anyone else's star ratings. Sources are captured through official channels or by hand, and blended only into our own composite.
Every factual correction is made publicly and logged. Placement is opinion and debatable — existence is not.
